Once again, the "magnet" class provided close racing...
...and the fastest cars of all.

Russell's overall winning machine
Edging Dennis Toyota by a mere 5 points, Russell's Audi R8 was the perfect combination of extreme craftsmanship, fabulous aesthetics from top to bottom, and good performance. But its tires betrayed it, and it skidded its way to 6th place.

The rest of the best...
Everyone else was left in the dust. Early contender Jim Cunningham had a car capable to worry Dennis Hill, but it was not to be as a body pin fell, the body fouling a tire. The motor poofed briefly after. "Jonh" Tore Anderson's porsche 917 had been the fastest until race day but its Slot-It V12 cried uncle briefly after the beginning of the race. Other top-level cars were Rod McPherson's Pro-Track chassied Ferrari P4, but it just did not have quite what was needed to win. Most surprising in the midst of those exotic cars was once again the Electric Dreams-tuned near stock FLY Porsche 908 of Kathryn Walwick. With better luck, it could have won. Instead, it placed a solid second and was the fastest car by race's end. After its win at the Marconi in 2000, the design still works!
